Shoe Stories – A Creative Workshop

March 6 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm GMT

What can a pair of shoes tell us about who we are and where we’ve come from?

This one-day creative workshop invites youth workers and artists to explore identity, empathy and sustainability through the theme of footwear.

Join artist Jo May and the National Youth Arts Programme team for a special workshop to explore our obsession with footwear! What kind of stories can our shoes can inspire? How can we use the theme as a starting point with young people to explore wider issues in our communities and beyond?

Using a mix of visual art processes, from drawing and collage to sculpture and textile reuse, participants will reflect on their own journeys, imagine the lives of others and consider the environmental and social footprints we leave behind.  Through hands-on making, conversation and playful experimentation, the day will explore how creative practice can spark connection, build understanding, and inspire new approaches to global and local issues.

You can expect a fun workshop full of lots of practical and creative activities and lots of conversation to get you thinking! Participants will leave with adaptable ideas and art-based activities they can bring back to their own youth work projects.

Come and take part! We’re excited to hear about your shoe stories!
