Pinhole photography\/camera obscura<\/h4>\n<p>In this workshop you will: construct your own pinhole camera (camera obscura) and use it to take photographs; develop your photographs in a dark room and assess their quality; learn how to build a dark room; and learn the fundamentals of the science involved (light and colour) and how to inspire young people with it. You will be provided with an equipment kit and programme to use on return to your own organisation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Led By: <a href=\"#Brian-Cregan\">Brian Cregan<\/a><\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4>B. Paper circuit art<\/h4>\n<p>In this workshop, you will marry art and science in an exciting and accessible way through paper art and circuits. You will begin with a series of skill acquisition workshops which will include drawing exercises, designing &amp; building paper circuits, story creation and pop-up\/paper engineering.<\/p>\n<p>You will then apply these skills in the creation of pop-up paper books or sculptures that incorporate circuits to enhance storytelling. The workshop will look at the theme of climate change and you will use this theme to write stories through pictures. You will explore pop-up &amp; paper engineering and apply it to your story. Using simple copper tape, LEDs and a coin cell battery you can illuminate your story, making a one-off book or sculpture of your own creation. You will receive an equipment kit and resources to use on return to your own organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Maeve will also talk through her own preparation process for workshops and look at how to encourage co-learning between the youth worker and young person in STEAM projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Led By: <a href=\"#Maeve-Clancy\">Maeve Clancy <\/a><\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]A follow-up session will be organised to bring participants back together to reflect on the opportunities and challenges they have faced in implementing their learning in their practice.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;60px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width=&#8221;stretch_row&#8221; el_class=&#8221;padding-50&#8243;][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;nyci-heading&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">About the Artists<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_id=&#8221;Brian-Cregan&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><span lang=\"EN-IE\">Brian Cregan<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-IE\">Brian Cregan is a lens-based artist who explores the potential of photography to represent our relationship with landscape, natural history and the built environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-IE\">Working independently on commissions and assignments, he has successfully collaborated on numerous projects with other artists, curators, educators, designers and architects. He exhibits his work nationally and internationally. His work as an educator is integrated into his practice and often forms the inspiration for new work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-IE\">He has been designing and facilitating photography\/visual arts workshops since graduating from the DIT Photography BA Programme in 2012, where he received first class honours and the DIT Photography medal for best student.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-IE\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He is a member of the pioneering\u00a0<i>Arts in Education Teacher Artist Partnership <\/i>initiative that is developing artist\/teacher partnerships in schools in Ireland and seeks to enhance the role of arts education in the school curriculum.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_id=&#8221;Maeve-Clancy&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>Maeve Clancy<\/h4>\n<p>Maeve Clancy is an artist who works in installation, animation and comics. She creates work for children and adults using cut paper, story and drawings. She has worked on music videos for singer Lisa Hannigan, mounted solo exhibitions and written both fictional and historical comic stories.
